Our history

KitOzyme was founded in December 2000 with a single ambition: industrialize the production of fungal chitosan and bring sustainable alternatives to animal-derived and petrochemical-based materials.

2025

Oenology - Launch of label : Fungal Chitosan Certified® - Recognised by OIV - A global first

2021

GastroIntestinal : BiOkuris founded, spin-out from KitOzyme. Centered on Gastro Intestinal diseases and disorders

Agriculture : Launch of KitOgreen®

2015

Cell Degeneration : KiOmed Pharma founded, spin-out from KitOzyme. Offering an alternative to Hyaluronic Acid in therapeutic areas

Oenology : OIV authorization for wine fining and clarification. The only fungal chitin derivatives to hold this authorization globally. Start of commercial activities

R&D phase. Patent of chitin-glucan, a novel tridimensional biopolymer combining chitin and beta (1,3) glucan. No equivalent from animal, plant or marine sources

Sustainability by design.

Circular by nature since day one, we upcycle Aspergillus niger mycelium—a co-product of citric acid fermentation—into high-value biopolymers. Across our entire value chain, we continuously reduce our environmental footprint, supported by rooftop solar energy generation and ambitious water reuse programs throughout our production.

Derived from Aspergillus niger and Agaricus bisporus, non-GMO, non-animal, fully traceable from source to delivery.

European manufacturing

Produced in Herstal, Belgium shorter supply chains, full traceability, independence from distant sourcing.
